Malsbury said that her husband, Roger, went to high school in neighboring Hightstown and that a bizarre set of coincidences surrounded their meeting. Lookadoo remained friends with classmate Nancy Ryan Malsbury, who lives in Washington Township. “You didn’t have to worry about the crime there is now and all the problems.” She recalled how when she was younger, she spent a lot of time going to the beach and driving around the town. Jeanette Luyt Lookadoo, who also attended the school’s 35-year reunion, came for the event from Marinette, Wisc. “Roller skating was everything,” she recalled. Peggy said that one of her fondest memories was of roller skating in Trenton. A member himself of AHS’ 1953 graduating class, he attended the reunion with his wife, Betty Jean Coclough, from the class of ’54. Robert’s brother, Richard, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., also attended the reunion. Robert Raynor also married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Schilling Raynor, and the couple now lives in Robbinsville. Back then, marrying a high school sweetheart was common. “I really enjoyed being class president, but I never thought about it going on for 50 years,” Truncer said, referring to her lifelong duty to help organize reunions. “I’m so excited to be here I can’t think straight.”īack in 1954, Truncer was the senior class president, and Davison was the class secretary.
“I don’t recognize a soul here,” Wondowski said moments after entering the room. “I think the turnout of 35 classmates was exceptional,” Truncer said, noting that 12 classmates had passed away.Īttendees hugged one another, compared memories and took the opportunity to catch up on lost time.įor Betty Wondowski, who now lives in San Francisco, this was her first reunion.
